Whenever we rescue a dog, our ultimate goal is to find them the right forever family. While some dogs only spend a short time in foster care, others have to wait months (or even years!) before someone comes along and adopts them. Despite being wonderful pets, they are simply overlooked by potential adopters.
Kanela is one of those dogs. She came to us in rough shape, but once she began to trust people, she started to show us her loving personality. And loving she is! Kanela could cuddle all day and all night. She is easygoing, loves going for walks and car rides, but also enjoys relaxing days at home. It’s easy to see why she quickly became a volunteer favorite.
When our loyal supporter Kelly first met Kanela, there was an instant connection between the two. They went on walks together and enjoyed each other’s company. Kelly returned to Curaçao several times, and on each one of these trips, she made time in her schedule to visit our CARFIES. After her last trip to the island, Kelly couldn’t get Kanela off her mind.
It took a lot of time, patience, and persistence, but even a global pandemic couldn’t keep these two apart. Kanela has been adopted! She made it all the way to New York, where she was warmly welcomed by her new doggy siblings. We are thrilled knowing that the rest of her life will be filled with love, cuddles, and the most amazing family to call her own.
